I hope you support mac.Īlso, thank you forum community for listening to the rant. Seriously, Tripwire, let me know where I can pre order KF 2. It sucks - not because I want to play real bad or spent money on this game that I can't play half the time - but because when it works it works WELL. If you dont see an unturned folder there, it means you have not started the server as least once yet. Then there are times like today, where Multiplayer, Host, and Profile (or whatever it's called) all give me a helpful "You must be connected to Steam and have internetz to play" or something. In order to use the automatic workshop ID download method, you must navigate to the unturned folder, which is inside the server folder in the main directory of the File Manager on the left hand side of your NodePanel. Other times I can't connect to multiplayer servers - it just times out and says Connection Failed Connection Failed (twice, with a line break in between). If it will be just KF1 with modern graphics or KF2 with less action, the game will sell poorly. Unfortunately action is what makes games popular. Some times it simply won't load my character data - every class is Lv. If KF3 will have more action abilities and keep its formula of previous titles, there is a good chance it will reach a sky higher than Back 4 Blood and CoD Zombies. You can find more info on the Pixel Perfect in the documentation. It comes with a simple component to put on the Camera which will do the hard work for you and make sure the art stays crisp and aligned with the grid of real, small pixels on any screen. Unity now has a Pixel Perfect solution in the form of a standalone package if you use the Built-in RP and included in the Universal RP and the 2D Renderer. So in general in pixel art, you don’t need to bother too much about the screen resolution, but you start from your art and the feel you want to convey (old-school, NES-era, 16-bit era, higher-resolution “modern” pixel art, etc.) and you scale it up a few times. It means that one pixel of your original art is now a square of 2x2, 4x4, 8x8 real pixels on the screen. In pixel art graphics you have something that’s extremely low resolution, and you want to blow it up to 2x, 4x, 8x, or maybe even more, its original resolution. If you’re a pixel artist, a word of warning: most of the tips in this post don’t fully apply to your situation. Note: Pictures in this blog post used the beautiful 2D assets from the Asset Store, in this blog we use art by the artist Mikael Gustafsson. “How big do they need to be?” As usual in game development, the answer to this question is “it depends”, but let’s go over a few concepts that will make the decision easier. Unity doesn’t express the size of an object in pixels and this can confuse artists who are creating assets for 2D games. In recent years, we’ve been working on a lot of features that help you create 2D games in Unity: Sprite atlas, 2D physics, a Tilemap feature for rectangular, hexagonal or isometric worlds, the spline-based Sprite Shape, 2D animation, and more. Read this blog post to get a better idea of what’s the best course of action for your project. At game events and online, people often ask me this question: “I’m making a 2D game in Unity for both PC and mobile: what resolution should my assets be?” There is no simple answer to this question that covers all cases. This can be a great time and money saver! You then get alerted for any of these reports as you approach them. Therefore, if motorist spots debris in the road or even a cop setup with a radar, they mark it on the map. What sets the program different is that other drivers who use the software are able to report issues on the road which then alert you if you are on the same path. The app works just like any direction software by providing you with directions from your starting point to your destination. It operates much like Google Maps, but has several other features that make it better, especially for trucking. Waze is a mapping and direction software that Google purchased in 2013 for more than $1 billion. The positive is that both apps are free if you have no other options. They both operate similarly, but both have their limitations from a trucker’s perspective. Below we will cover some of the most popular apps available on the market today.ĭescription & Features: I’m grouping Waze and Google Maps together in this list. Some apps also go a step further and allow truckers to find various amenities at truck stops along their route such as a mechanic or wifi access. When it creates the driving route for the trucker, it does so by avoiding low clearance bridges, etc. Most apps allow drivers to enter their truck size, weight and cargo type. There’s actually a significant difference in the navigation apps available for these two sets of users.Īpps for truckers are typically designed so the driver doesn’t have to worry about driving on roads that may be too small for their trucks. Over the years, I’ve run into new drivers who didn’t realize there was a difference between GPS apps made for drivers of cars versus those driving a truck. Now, it’s as easy as downloading Google Maps to your iPhone or Android and off you go with real time traffic updates that will reroute you if a quicker route appears. Today, GPS navigation is used by almost everyone on a daily basis. This was the beginning of turn by turn navigation. It wasn’t until May of 2000, that President Bill Clinton signed an order allowing the US military to unscramble these signals which increased the accuracy of civilian GPS signals from 100 or so yards to about 3 yards on average. Ten years later, the technology was made available to the general public, however the satellite signals were scrambled so that users could only achieve accurate readings to within about 100 yards of their location. Many people don’t realize it, but GPS technology was developed by the United States military in 1973. What Are the Top 5 Best GPS Map Software Programs for the Garmin? It is beneficial to keep a thick mat of leaves from forming over the crowns of perennial plants. Even thick layers of fallen leaves will break down over the winter leaving you with an inch or two of mulch the following spring. Additionally, they can help insulate the ground over the winter, protecting perennials from extreme cold temperatures.įor the most part, leaves in perennials beds, under shrubs and in other mulched areas do not have to be removed. As they decompose, they act as a mulch, suppressing weeds and helping to maintain consistent soil moisture. They break down to add organic matter and nutrients to the soil. Leaves are an excellent resource for the garden. What do I do with fallen leaves in my flower beds? If the leaf layer is thick, mow over an area more than once. Mowing is best done when the layer of leaves is thin and dry, so mow often throughout the fall. When finished, very little leaf debris should be visible. The leaves must be chopped into pieces small enough to fall down between the blades of grass. Chopping the leaves up with a mulching mower can help return organic matter to the soil, benefitting the lawn, and for most people, it is easier than raking and removing. Gardeners can also manage leaves on the lawn by mowing. Leaves can be collected by raking, blowing or using the collection bag on a mower and then removed from the lawn and added to a compost pile or sent to a composting facility. The leaf debris prevents the turfgrass plants from manufacturing and storing food prior to winter and can block light causing areas of the lawn to dieback, leaving behind patchy areas of dead grass that are unsightly and more prone to weeds.Ī layer of leaves where little or no grass is visible will need to be managed. In the fall, lawn areas beneath large trees are often completely covered with leaves. Turfgrass plants utilize light, water and nutrients to manufacture food. Do I have to remove the leaves from my lawn? Whenever possible move them to mulched garden areas with fewer leaves or create a compost pile onsite to keep all that beneficial organic matter in your yard. Often a little redistribution of the leaf layer to prevent a thick mat of leaves from forming is all that is needed to prevent this type of damage.Įxcessively thick layers of leaves (greater than 6 to 8 inches) may need to be reduced or removed. If nothing is done, layers of fallen leaves can cause damage by blocking out light and smothering plants, which can kill them. Even with all these benefits, it doesn’t mean that leaves can simply go unmanaged in the lawn and garden. Dead leaves also decompose, creating compost that can improve soil structure and fertility. These valuable insects rely on the habitat fallen leaves provide, especially over the winter months. Leaving the leaves alone is a good way to support native pollinators and other insects and wildlife. Can I just leave fallen leaves on my yard and garden? Iowa State University Extension and Outreach horticulturists offer advice on how to manage the colorful blanket of leaves that appear in your lawn and garden each fall. Collecting and removing every leaf is not necessary but simply ignoring them isn’t a good option either. AMES, Iowa - Each autumn the leaves on the deciduous trees in our yards fall into lawns and garden beds. Professor Larson said: “This study can’t replicate a real-world social media platform environment. Individuals who wanted to “wait until others” had been vaccinated were less likely to outright reject a vaccine. The study also found that the main barriers to positive intent to vaccinate were concerns over vaccine safety, and a belief that they would not be at risk of contracting COVID-19 or would not become ill if they did. Exposure to misinformation could push us even further away from that goal. Reported willingness to accept a COVID-19 vaccine is already below the needed herd immunity threshold. “Our work has shown that misinformation can change people’s minds and willingness to accept a potential COVID-19 vaccine, a decision which could threaten lives around the world. We know misinformation is out there, but until now we did not know how significant its impact really is. Positive confidence means higher acceptance of crucial health interventions, while low confidence means heightened risk perception and vulnerability to misinformation. Professor Larson notes: “Vaccine confidence has a significant impact on global health. In the UK, the impact of misinformation on intent to vaccinate appears to have no difference across socio-eco-demographic groups. In the US, those who use up to 30 minutes of social media daily are less susceptible than non-users or those who use less than 10 minutes of social media per day. Respondents aged over 35 are significantly more likely to reject a vaccine after exposure to misinformation than they were before exposure. Many groups in the US appear to be vulnerable to COVID-19 vaccine misinformation. In the US, Democrats are less likely to reject the vaccine than Republicans, whereas those who do not affiliate with any of the four major parties in the UK are far more likely to refuse a vaccine. However, more respondents in both countries would accept a vaccine if it meant protecting family, friends, or at-risk groups. The remaining 1,000 were shown information about a COVID-19 vaccine that was factual to serve as a randomised control.Īccording to the article, ‘In both countries, individuals with highest educational attainment below postgraduate degrees, low income groups, and non-whites are more likely to reject a COVID-19 vaccine.’ Females are also more likely than males to refuse a COVID vaccine. In the study, 3,000 respondents in each country were exposed to widely circulating misinformation on social media surrounding a COVID-19 vaccine between June and August 2020. The research team aimed to quantify the impact of online misinformation on intent to take a COVID-19 vaccine, and identify socio-economic groups that are most susceptible to online misinformation and at-risk of non-vaccination. “Although studies have examined the effect of COVID-19 misinformation on public perception, the link between exposure to misinformation and intent to receive a future vaccination is less well known. This threatens to undermine the levels of COVD-19 vaccine acceptance required. Misinformation plays into existing anxieties and uncertainty around new vaccines, as well as the new platforms that are being used to develop them. However, vaccines only work if people take them. Professor Heidi Larson from the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine and study lead said: “COVID-19 vaccines will be crucial to helping to end this pandemic and returning our lives to near normal. Rumours include claims that 5G mobile networks are causing the virus, that the pandemic is a conspiracy or a bioweapon, and that vaccine participants have died after taking a candidate COVID-19 vaccine – none of which are true. The researchers who conducted the new study say the findings can help inform COVID-19 vaccination messaging and engagement strategies to mitigate the negative impacts of misinformation in the UK and US.Īs COVID-19 vaccine trials continue, there have been widely circulating false stories about the virus as well as potential vaccines and treatments. It is estimated that a COVID-19 vaccine will need to be accepted by at least 55% of the population to provide herd immunity, and some scientists anticipate even higher numbers will be needed. Prior to being exposed with misinformation, 54% of those surveyed in the UK said they would “definitely” accept a vaccine, 41.2% in the US.Īfter being shown online misinformation, that number dropped by 6.4% (UK) and by 2.4% (US). It asked 8,000 people about their willingness to accept a potential COVID-19 vaccine. The study, which is under peer review, was led by the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine. Fewer people in the UK and US would “definitely” take a COVID-19 vaccine than is required for herd immunity, and misinformation could push these levels further away from that goal, according to a study in Nature Human Behaviour. Some of the PC options also feel outdated, with limited save slots and unchangeable keyboard controls. It's hard to imagine taking notes while wearing a headset and holding controllers. While the addition of a photomode is nice, solving the game in VR seems challenging. But even with the modern facelift, the world still feels static, like a painting rather than a living, breathing place. The ocean waves, rolling clouds, and small details like a frog hopping along a bridge add to the atmosphere. Visually, Myst is stunning, especially in VR. There are plenty of satisfying eureka moments along the way. The puzzle design is clever, and sometimes a simple observation or paying attention to sounds can lead you in the right direction. However, there are still enjoyable aspects to Myst. I have to admit, my patience for the tougher puzzles isn't what it used to be, and I often found myself reaching for a walkthrough. The puzzles remain the same as the original, ranging from straightforward to punishingly difficult. Compared to other games set on islands, like The Witness, Myst feels shockingly small. Walking through the world this time is a nice change, but it also highlights how small the islands feel. The focus is more on puzzles than storytelling. To progress, you solve puzzles and gather missing pages to uncover the island's story. But let me tell you, Myst feels pretty outdated, no matter how it looks in 2021.įor those who haven't played it, Myst is an adventure game where you find yourself trapped on a mysterious island after reading a strange book. It's a complete remake of the game, now in 3D and even available in VR. So, I dove back into Myst after all these years.
